Have you ever had one of those days where you just want to check out of your own life, just for a day or a couple of hours. Just for a breather? Where you’re just not trying to face all you need to face. Where for a moment, you’re just on holiday somewhere where they speak a language you don’t understand and you have nil cares beyond adjusting your cabana to block out the scorching sun from melting your crushed ice tequila cocktail.

Have you ever had one of those days where all you want is to be wrapped up in the confines of some mystical faraway hug that just never lets go? When you just need that special salve that is going to melt your worries into a pool on the warm floor from which it then steams and then evaporates?

Have you ever had one of those days where you’re just being strong out of habit, but the sinews under your skin are stretched thin and raw? You just want to release and fall into the safety net of being caught, and safe in a plush blanket and a strong pair of arms? Do safety nets like that even exist? Or is it just another pipe-dream?

Have you ever struggled to ignite your usual optimism? Your enthusiasm so waned, and you remain frustrated and fixated on wet wood and flameless damp earth fire pits on a chilly night?

Have you ever had a day like that?

Yea, nah me neither.

Today wasn’t fun though.

  1. I am being dramatic, (I know, I rarely am!) I’m vaguely aware that the sky is not falling, and that life will surprisingly go on.
  2. This is a mood, which means it is momentary.
  3. Because shit needs to get done, it will get done, therefore, whether I like it or not, regularly scheduled #Superwoman duties resume tomorrow before the kids wake up.
All I’m saying is, a safety net, a tequila shot and a Caribbean cruise would have been nice today. That’s all I’m saying.
